Wisconsin’s own Proud Theater is coming to Green Bay. Proud Theater is an award-winning program of Art & Soul Innovations that encourages LGBTQI+ and allied young people between the ages of 13 and 18 years old to share their personal stories through original theatrical works that they present to the community throughout the school year. To establish the Green Bay chapter, which has received support from the LaForce Family Foundation, Proud Theater officials will be on-hand for an informational session for interested youth and adults on September 23, 2017. The session will be held in the University Union (Phoenix Room C, the first room on the right when entering the Union; 2420 Nicolet Drive) at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Proud Theater-Green Bay will ultimately provide mentoring and opportunities for creative expression for area LGBTQI+ and allied youth, ages 13-19.
Establishing this chapter requires the active participation of adults with a wide range of skill sets. We especially encourage those with a background in theater and the performing arts, publicity, fundraising, and community outreach to attend, as well as those interested in being mentors for LGBTQI+ youth in the region, or who are willing to assist with the overall development of the chapter. If that’s you, please attend!
Established by the children of Joe and Eleanor “Mac” LaForce, founders of LaForce, Inc., the LaForce Family Foundation continues Joe and Mac’s spirit of generous philanthropy in the Green Bay community and beyond for efforts related to education, entrepreneurship and community-building.
If you want to help and are unable to attend, or if you have any questions, contact Executive Director Brian Wild at (608) 222-9086 or info@proudtheater.org. We look forward to seeing you for our informational session!
