Cindy Crane

Cindy Crane (she/her/hers) has a background as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  She left parish ministry when she came out of the closet as a lesbian in the 1990s.  She returned to the ministry after the rules of her denomination changed to include openly LGBTQ+ pastors.  In between leaving and returning, Cindy worked with several nonprofits including GSAFE from 2005-2011. Via a small business, Seekardia, she felt honored to work on a writing contest with the talented Proud Theater 2012-2014. Since 2014 she has worked as the director of the Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin, an advocacy ministry which supports public policies that diminish hunger and promote caring for the earth. She loves Madison with all of its warts and flaws and feels grateful that many do the same for her.
